Carnivora

The order carnivora is derived from the latin carō vorāre and simply means to devour flesh; meat eaters. This order includes some 260 species of placental mammal, these animals are formally known as carnivores. It is believed carnivores descended from Miacids; a primitive species that were found to exist between 65 and 33 million years ago, they were so well adapted that they lasted for over 32 million years.
Although they are meat eaters, there are two areas in which the species can fall into these are obligate carnivore and omnivore. Carnivore doesn't only refer to meat eaters but to animals in the order Carnivora. The obligate carnivore will only live on the nutrients found in the flesh of other animals, they may ingest a small amount of plant matter but their bodies lack the requirements for the animal to recieve any nutritional value from vegetation. An omnivore on the other hand will ingest meat, vegetation and pretty much anything they can get; omnivore basically means devour everything or all. Most if not all have teeth, claws and binocular vision to assist with hunting and killing prey, some are sociable and so hunt in "groups" to bring down much larger prey and others are solitary; making it easier to find food where it may be scarce.
